THE SCAM IS HIDDEN MALWARE *READ*So I decided to show a relative of mine who is an IT specialist the suspicious note I received. This is what they said:
"Please share this with all your watchers ASAP. IT community is aware of this and it is very dangerous. It will insert ransomware that may not show up for weeks or months. Advise all users to run antivirus/antimalware asap if they clicked on link.
From MalwareBytes, this is a TOP level domain. Very bad stuff.
What is a suspicious top level domain (TLD)?
Possible suspicious activity encompasses a variety of behaviors that are commonly attributed to technical support scams, cryptojacking, browser hijacking, and other types of harmful, risky, and potentially unwanted objects.
I clicked it because I am IT person that can destroy it and report it out to authorities. Nobody else should even open it. It is a SBD: silent but deadly. They won't know what has happened until months from now when they lose everything to a ransomware attack."
Alright so I know that this is going to make some people upset, and I apologize for that, but I have to speak my mind. I've been following the whole gamergate situation for the past couple of weeks and I read something today that has made me very very angry.
Why am I so angry you may ask? Well, it's because since I support the idea of journalistic integrity in the video game industry, I am automatically a misogynist neckbeard racist pedophile who is literally worse than ISIS.
I am angry because the mere fact that I disagree with Anita Sarkesian
is proof that I am part of a patriarchy that is oppressing women, I am angry because my opinion apparently so worthless and without merit, that the opposition to gamergate is attempting to take this issue to the Supreme court of the united states, and get legislation enacted that will end up censoring any dissent. blogjob.com/…/gamergate-…
I am angry because I just found out today that the International Game Developers association has endorsed a twitter application that automatically blocks people who use that gamergate hashtag, AND EVERYONE WHO FOLLOWS THEM, regardless of weather or not they have ever used the hashtag themselves. This is absolutely ridiculous, Kentucky fried Chicken is on this blocklist, as is the chairman of the Puerto Rican chapter of the IDGA.
According to their wikipedia article "the International Game Developers Association (IGDA) is the professional association for over 12,000
video and computer game developers worldwide. It is incorporated in the United States as a non-profit organization.
Its stated mission is "To advance the careers and enhance the lives of game developers by connecting members with their peers,
promoting professional development, and advocating on issues that affect the developer community."
Obviously this means that they are a pretty big deal for the industry. Some game developers have come out in support of gamergate's stated goal of journalistic integrity in gaming journalism and have been added to this list. In essence this means that these game developers have been BLACKLISTED. All a potential employer has to do is look at this list and they will see that these people apparently support a hate group and they will end up not getting a job, or LOOSING THEIR JOB. This is CENSORSHIP, plain and simple, and it's high time somebody did something about it.
